About KPOJ and Carl Wolfson

Carl and his cats Kali & Tux

Carl Wolfson is the host of The Morning Show, which airs weekdays from 6 to 9 a.m. on AM 620 KPOJ, Portland, Oregon’s progressive talk station. The show can be streamed or Podcast at www.620kpoj.com.

The show features an in-depth analysis of the day’s events, breaking stories and interviews with local and national newsmakers. Each day, Carl draws on his longtime comedy career and a master’s degree in political science to provide illuminating interviews with the likes of Helen Thomas, Ralph Nader, Maya Angelou, Madeleine Albright, and Alan Greenspan. Hosts, guests and callers mix it up on subjects great and small – from polar caps to wiretaps, oligarchy to Glenn Beck’s malarkey.

Carl joined KPOJ in 2007, after a 27-year career as one of America’s top headlining comedians. He is a veteran of more than 6,000 performances. During the 1980s and 1990s, Carl was a frequent performer on national television, appearing on HBO, Showtime’s Comedy Club Network, VH-1 Stand-Up Spotlight, An Evening at the Improv and The Joan Rivers Show. His weekly news segments on Thicke of the Night (“The Wolfson Report”) and Fox Network’s Late Show (“Carl’s Camera”) were the most popular features of each show. Carl began his show-biz career at Hollywood’s Comedy Store in 1980. He received his B.S. in Communications from The University of Tennessee and his M.A. in Political Science from UCLA.

About ASAP

The Animal Shelter Alliance of Portland’s (ASAP’s) mission is to end the euthanasia of healthy, social, and treatable cats and dogs in Portland-area shelters through collaboration and outreach. By working together we have reduced euthanasia in our region by 44% in four years! The coalition is comprised of ten organizations : The Alliance for Contraception in Cats and Dogs; Cat Adoption Team; Clackamas County Dog Services; Feral Cat Coalition of Oregon; Humane Society for Southwest Washington; Multnomah County Animal Services; Oregon Humane Society; Portland Veterinary Medical Association; Southwest Washington Veterinary Medical Association; and Washington County Animal Services/Bonnie L. Hayes Small Animal Shelter.
ASAP’s keystone program is Spay & Save, a Portland metro area-wide program that aims to assist low income families and their cats by offering 10,000 annual, affordable spay & neuter surgeries for those who qualify. The program aims to keep struggling families and their pets together and reduce the number of cats and kittens that are coming into our shelters every year—23,574 in 2010 alone. All surgeries are performed by licensed veterinarians and assisted by skilled, caring support teams. The low cost service is made possible by charitable donations.
